Compare the exact Titan fillable model if its 12.5 lb empty mass and 2-in grip fit your requirements. Confirm the current backorder terms before committing.
Check Titan Loadable Mace — backorderA steel mace combines a long shaft with a concentrated end load. The long lever is the buying distinction; it is not simply a differently shaped dumbbell. Steel clubs use a shorter barrel-and-handle format and may suit a different movement space.

| Exact model | Size / construction | Adjustment and load meaning | Offer and ordering limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Retrospec Revolve; selected 5 lb Black SKU 4638 or 10 lb Black SKU 4640 | All-steel stem and welded rounded head; knurled grip. Current checked page does not establish numerical length or grip diameter for each variant. | Fixed choices 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 lb; a separate complete mace per weight. Manufacturer specifications | 5 lb $24.99; 10 lb $34.99. Direct variant data orderable for those two; 7 lb unavailable. Shipping below advertised $35 threshold needs a quote. Nonaffiliate reference; no invented Amazon match. |
| Titan Loadable Mace Hammer; 430034 | 38-in overall, 8-in globe, 2-in handle diameter, 1-in fill opening; welded steel. | Empty 12.5 lb ±3%. Maker says “loadable up to 40 lb”; total-versus-added interpretation requires confirmation. Do not calculate a 52.5-lb maximum. Manufacturer specifications | $114.99; live page offers backorder, not immediate shipment. Orderable variant data does not override that. Confirm dispatch and fill instructions. |
Length and grip come before the headline weight
Hand position changes the distance to the head and therefore the moment you must control. Moving the hands closer to the head shortens the lever, but it also changes the movement and may reduce available hand space. Compare the longest intended hand-to-head distance, total head clearance and the grip your hands can securely hold.
Titan’s 2-in handle is substantially thicker than many ordinary barbell grips. It should not be treated as an interchangeable substitute for a thin-handled fixed mace. Retrospec’s missing numerical dimensions remain an ordering question; ask for them for the exact weight rather than estimating from a photo.

Fixed versus loadable: what changes between sessions?
Fixed is straightforward when the weight and geometry suit the program. There is no fill to measure, and changing load means using another mace. Do not assume all weights in a product family have the same length or shaft diameter unless the maker confirms it.
Fillable offers progression within one implement, but requires compatible fill, weighing, retention and repeated inspection. Empty weight is a lower bound: a 12.5 lb empty mace cannot provide a 5 lb setting. Titan lists multiple fill materials, but we have not verified the density, settling or total-load interpretation needed for every option. Obtain the current maker-linked instructions and use only its approved fill and closure procedure. We do not recommend lead fill or an improvised plug.
Weigh the complete closed implement after changing approved fill. Head geometry and fill placement affect handling; a scale reading alone does not prove equivalence to another model. Keep the plug and closure accessible for inspection, and do not exceed a confirmed total limit.
A useful sizing process
- Name the intended movement: offset holds, rows, presses and overhead circular patterns do not have identical clearance or skill requirements.
- Check your program’s prescribed geometry and load. Get qualified instruction before unfamiliar overhead or behind-the-head patterns; buying a mace is not a movement assessment.
- Confirm total length, grip diameter, head diameter and enough clear shaft for the planned hand positions.
- Check the full arc against ceiling, garage-door tracks, walls and other people. Allow entry and exit as well as the working path.
- Choose a load you can control for that exact pattern. Neither sex, bodyweight nor a barbell personal record determines one universal beginner mace weight.
Who should buy—and who should skip?
Buy a fixed mace when your intended load is known and the merchant confirms the missing dimensions. Compare a fillable mace when its empty weight and grip already suit you and slower load changes are acceptable. Skip either when the goal is already met by dumbbells or clubs, or the only available exercise area cannot accommodate the full lever.
The club guide helps compare shorter levers and one-versus-two purchases. If the immediate goal is grip strength, the grip-tool guide offers more targeted options.
Complete cost and the current purchase route
Count the full implement, approved fill and a suitable weighing method where needed, delivery/tax, storage and instruction. A $24.99 fixed-mace item below a $35 free-shipping threshold is not a delivered $24.99 offer; do not buy unnecessary gear merely to cross a threshold.
For Titan, the current route accepts backorders and shows an estimated date subject to change. We deliberately do not repeat that as a guaranteed arrival date. The button above takes you to that exact model and preserves WOD Fever’s established Titan attribution. Retrospec is linked as a manufacturer reference without an approved affiliate relationship. No training-result, mobility or injury-prevention promise is made.
