Compatibility: same tube size is only the first check

Check What to record before buying
Rack series and version PR-4000 or PR-5000, current or older component
Attachment interface Pin diameter, hole centers, bracket fit and required adjacent holes
Cable system Supported rack series, height, depth and post layout in the current builder
Anchoring and stability Your exact manual: crossmembers, rear stabilizer, front feet and attachment use
Outside-rack work Spotter arms, lever arms and pull-up attachments may change anchoring and space needs

PR-5000 offset J-cups can provide intermediate bar positions without changing its 2-inch hole grid. Do not buy reducers or assume cross-brand fit from “3×3” alone. REP’s assembly requirements vary by configuration: a rear stabilizer does not make every 30-inch or outside-rack setup safe without anchoring. Follow the current installation manual for the complete configuration.

Compare complete configurations, not starting prices

Price the same height and working depth, the same safety type, J-cups, pull-up solution, storage and cable functions. A rack-only price and a rack-plus-Ares quote answer different questions. Include tax, shipping, anchoring and flooring in the budget; omit accessories you will not use.

Choose by training goal

Squat and flat-bench focus: prioritize bar placement, safeties and a stable installation; PR-4000 is a sensible first quote. Bodybuilding with adjustable cables: compare the rack plus the supported Athena or Ares 2.0 configuration, cable travel and bench access. Mixed functional fitness: reserve open floor and overhead movement room rather than filling the garage with every attachment.

Already own a sound rack? Replacement is hard to justify unless its adjustment, safety system or compatibility blocks training you actually do. Use the hole-size guide and the rack-depth guide for the broader decision, then compare rack and cable priorities.
