Buy a yoke when loaded carries or its approved convertible uses are central to your training. Buy a power rack when a stable lifting station and enclosed safety options are the main job. A yoke that accepts J-cups is not automatically equivalent to a full power rack.

Recommendations are editorial judgments about fit and use. Prices are dated US equipment examples; tax, delivery, installation and extras can change the total.
Titan and REP yokes compared
On a phone, swipe the table sideways.
| Configuration / dated base price | Frame and empty start | Carry outline and adjustment | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Titan T-3 Short 72 in; $649.99; Tall 92 in $699.99 | 2 × 3 in, 11-gauge; short model 166 lb; 750 lb maker rating. | 52 W × 53 D in; 45 in inside width; 2.95 in adjustable crossbar; 15.5 in weight sleeves, 48 mm diameter. | Confirm accessories for the current yoke—not merely any T-3 rack. Tall empty weight not established in the selected short-model table. |
| REP Oxylus 77 in base; $844.99; 92 in base $864.99 | 3 × 3 in, 11-gauge; 1 in holes. With weight horns: 230 lb / 240 lb. Maker rating 2,500 lb. | 52.2 W × 59.6 L in; 3 in adjustable cross brace; 12 in horns. Bare frames 205 lb / 215 lb before horns. | Specific PR-5000 attachments supported; several safety systems explicitly excluded. Liners and carry/pull-up options affect the basket. |
| Conventional power rack | Exact rack model controls anchoring, safeties and accessory fit. | A fixed lifting footprint; not intended to be carried simply because it has uprights. | Choose for its own approved lifting use. Do not improvise a carry conversion. |
What a yoke adds—and what it does not
The adjustable crossbar can rest on the shoulders for carries, while the upright/foot structure holds the load. Some yokes convert to a squat stand or accept approved carry and sled accessories. That versatility is useful only if you can reconfigure the implement and have room for its intended movement.
A power rack surrounds the lifter with a different structure and may support pin, strap or flip-down safety options specific to that rack. REP explicitly says Oxylus is not compatible with its pin-pipe, flip-down or strap safeties, nor with the lat/low row attachment or standard pull-up bars. REP also does not recommend ISO arms on it. Do not infer all PR-5000 attachments work from the 1-inch holes.
REP does list selected J-cups, spotter arms, dip, landmine, utility-horn and leg-roller attachments. The exact approved configuration, loading and stabilization instructions still apply. Titan’s page describes squat/press stand and carry uses; its broad accessory language is not an independent guarantee for every T-3 attachment generation.
Carry clearance: the room must fit the moving load
Start with the unloaded frame outline, then add plate diameter and any protruding horns, hands or attachments. The 45-inch Titan inside width describes the opening; the frame is 52 inches wide before considering the loaded outline. A doorway wider than your shoulders may still be too narrow for the yoke.
The yoke rises when you stand with it. Measure the highest point at the intended pickup height plus the clearance needed to walk and set it down. A 92-inch tall frame under a nominal 96-inch ceiling has only 4 inches before any lift, uneven floor or obstruction. A stored fit is not carry approval.
Use a clear straight lane with a controlled pickup and finish zone. A turn can sweep a nearly five-foot-long frame across a wider area than its straight path. Avoid pivoting a loaded yoke through a tight garage. Confirm floor suitability, skid/liner requirements and permitted indoor use; rubber mats alone do not establish floor load capacity.
Adjustment and empty weight matter more than a large rating
Set the crossbar so you can pick the yoke up without an excessive knee bend or an uncontrolled shrug, following the maker’s instructions. Secure every required pin or fastener. Hole spacing on the upright is not proof every desired crossbar height is available once the bracket and pin layout are included.
The 77-inch REP base with horns is 230 lb before plates, 64 lb above the checked short Titan’s 166 lb. An accessory can add more: REP lists 100 lb for its carry attachment and 30 lb for its pull-up bar. Empty-start mass can rule out a purchase for lighter carries even if the frame’s rating is impressive.
REP says the carry attachment is not an instant pin-pop conversion and recommends two people to install it. Its three carry grips are 27, 38 and 48 mm. That frame-carry setup is a different purchase from a pair of independent farmer’s handles.
Complete cost: compare the job you need
Carry basket = yoke + plates + required retention + floor/skid protection + delivery and tax. Lifting basket = yoke + specifically approved J-cups and spotting arrangement + any required stabilization + bench/bar/plates + delivery and tax. Do not compare a bare yoke with a fully equipped rack.
REP’s checked 77-inch base is $844.99; its same-height all-accessories configuration is $1,384.99, a $540 difference. Confirm which accessories and liners are included in the actual chosen package; the product overview lists UHMW base liners as separate. Titan’s $649.99 short base is $195 below REP’s $844.99 base at check, but those frames have different mass, construction and accessory systems.
Compare Titan when the lighter empty start, short height and specified functions fit. Compare REP when its documented configurations and attachment options justify the heavier implement and additional cost. Choose a full power rack when routine solo lifting and the rack’s approved safeties are the priority.
Rogue’s Y-1 is another credible yoke category option: the maker describes 2 × 3-inch 11-gauge uprights, adjustable crossbar and a rating above 750 lb. A complete current Y-1 fit/accessory/price comparison was not established here, so it is a source to investigate rather than an unsupported third winner. Start with our power-rack comparison or stand versus half rack versus power rack if carries are secondary.
