Choose a sissy squat machine by its calf/ankle fit before its capacity. Titan’s current machine is the narrower, lower-priced option; Powertec Sissy Squat Pro offers more documented ankle and pad settings. Both restrain the lower legs for supported squat variations. Neither is a leg-extension machine or a universal replacement for a loaded squat.
Comparisons are based on manufacturer specifications and published product information. US product information checked October 21, 2026. We have not conducted hands-on testing. Prices are dated equipment examples, before tax and any delivery or installation costs.

What this machine actually does
The pad supports the backs of the lower legs while the ankle rollers limit forward foot movement. You bend and extend the knees with the body supported by that arrangement. This differs from a free-standing sissy squat, a barbell back squat and a seated leg extension. Product names do not make the movement or resistance curve identical.
Choose it when a small dedicated quad accessory matches your plan and the pad arrangement suits you. If you want heavy plate-loaded squat progression with a shoulder carriage, compare the leverage squat machine guide. If you want one general strength station, price a rack before purchasing multiple specialized machines.
Measure your legs, then check the adjustment range
- Use the manufacturer’s reference point. Powertec specifies pad height above the footplate. Titan lists calf-pad positions without the same explicit reference. Do not subtract the two ranges as if they were measured identically.
- Match calf support and ankle capture together. A suitable top-pad height does not prove that the rollers can hold your lower legs securely in your training shoes.
- Check stance and full movement. The footplate must accommodate your stance, and the frame must remain stable through your controlled range.
- Check access. You need room to step in, set the adjustments, sit back and exit. The frame outline is not the full training envelope.
Useful question for the seller: “For this exact model, what are the pad heights measured from the top of the footplate, the available ankle gaps, and the rating for body weight plus added resistance?” Send your relevant leg measurements rather than only your height.
Capacity: account for the person and external load
Titan’s 300 lb and Powertec’s 400 lb figures are published manufacturer ratings. The pages do not clearly separate body weight from added resistance in a comparable rating definition. Until the maker confirms otherwise, budget conservatively for the combined person and external load and follow the exact manual. These values are not permission to load that weight across your chest.
Illustration: a 205 lb person plus a 25 lb plate creates 230 lb of combined mass. That is arithmetic, not approval of that exercise or load. The equipment’s configuration, balance, permitted use and your control still govern.
Complete cost and ordering checks
The checked machine-only difference is $98.13. Add only the bands or handheld load the manufacturer permits and you actually need, along with tax and any shipping charge. Confirm whether band pegs are supplied in the selected Powertec configuration. Its page describes band pegs as an option while also providing dimensions with and without them; do not assume the photographed accessories are included.
Powertec’s page displayed both a restocking notice and an in-stock message during our check. Confirm a written dispatch estimate at checkout; we do not claim immediate availability. Confirm Titan’s selected SKU and current manual before ordering.
Which is the better fit?
Titan is the first comparison for a narrower base and lower equipment cost. Powertec is worth comparing when the extra adjustment positions and wheels solve a real fit or handling issue. Skip both if your current squat or split-squat setup already supplies the accessory work you want.
Are sissy squat machines safe for knees?
There is no universal guarantee. Fixed lower-leg support changes the movement, and individual tolerance and progression matter. Manufacturer statements about isolation or reduced joint stress do not establish medical suitability. Use a controlled range and stop a painful repetition; buying a machine is not a treatment plan.
