Choose REP QuickDraw LB when 60 lb per hand covers your planned training and you want the lower complete cost at that ceiling. Choose PowerBlock Elite USA when an expandable path to 70 or 90 lb matters more than saving on the initial pair. If you prefer kilograms, QuickDraw KG reaches 30 kg, about 66.1 lb per hand.

The opening buying decision
For controlled home strength sessions, first write down the heaviest load needed for rows, presses and leg work. QuickDraw is a qualified option only when its final ceiling covers that need. Keep useful existing weights; a cheaper fixed or loadable pair can be sufficient when you need few loads and can accept slower changes.

QuickDraw vs PowerBlock: complete pair cost and expansion
These are US displayed pair prices, excluding promotions, tax, delivery extras and optional stands. Read each row as a different capacity; a 60 lb pair and a 70 lb pair are not equal-weight packages.
| Current pair | Price checked Oct. 10, 2026 | Expansion ceiling / purchase implication |
|---|---|---|
| QuickDraw LB 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 lb | $335.99 / $415.99 / $495.99 / $575.99 | LB add-ons reach 60 lb per hand; never 70 or 90 lb. |
| QuickDraw KG 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 kg | $335.99 / $415.99 / $495.99 / $575.99 | KG add-ons reach 30 kg per hand; about 66.1 lb. |
| Elite USA 50 / 70 / 90 lb | $469 / $668 / $867 | 50 lb base + Stage 2 reaches 70; Stage 3 requires Stage 2 and reaches 90. |
Buying the lighter pair does not currently save on the final capacity
QuickDraw LB: a $40 add-on unit supplies two 5 lb plates for one dumbbell, adding 10 lb to that hand. A 30 lb pair needs six units to reach 60 lb per hand: $335.99 + 6 × $40 = $575.99. Starting lighter preserves cash today; it does not beat the current 60 lb pair price.
Elite USA: the $199 Stage 2 kit covers both dumbbells, as does the $199 Stage 3 kit. From a 50 lb pair: $469 + $199 = $668 at 70 lb; $469 + $199 + $199 = $867 at 90 lb. The current complete-pair prices match staged purchasing. One PowerBlock pair kit is not the same quantity unit as one QuickDraw LB add-on.
Same-capacity example: at 50 lb per hand, QuickDraw LB is $495.99 and Elite USA is $469, a $26.99 difference. From that starting point, QuickDraw needs $80 to reach its 60 lb ceiling; Elite USA needs $199 to reach 70 lb. Choose based on the final load you will use, not the smallest upfront number.

Training fit: adjustment, usable weights and space
QuickDraw uses steel switches and removable plates; Elite USA uses a magnetic selector pin and internal micro weights. Neither adjustment mechanism turns one pair into several simultaneously available pairs. For timed WODs, partners or alternating heavy rows and light raises, a fixed pair at the repeated load may solve the interruption more cheaply than replacing the whole system.
LB QuickDraw normally moves in 5 lb steps; its 2.5 lb micro option introduces a small imbalance. KG uses 2.5 kg steps and a 1.25 kg micro option. Elite USA offers 2.5 and 5 lb adjustments, but do not infer that every 2.5 lb value exists: the published sequence jumps from 10 to 15 lb and from 20 to 25 lb, for example. Check the actual setting needed for your progression.
Allow space to set down and adjust both dumbbells, store unused weights and move a bench. PowerBlock lists 16.25 × 6 × 6 inches for the full 90 lb Elite USA; that is one dumbbell, not a stand or the floor area needed to train. Mark the loaded outline and hand clearance in your room before deciding that compact storage means comfortable exercise fit.
Handle access and how the weights sit against your thighs are personal fit questions. A specification comparison cannot certify either model as more comfortable or faster in your hands. Use the Home Gym Planner for the broader room and equipment order, and our dumbbell exercise finder to check the movements you need.
Elite USA vs Elite EXP: identify the model before expansion
| Identification clue | Elite USA | Retailer Elite EXP |
|---|---|---|
| Micro-weight lock | Centered; red Open / Closed markings | Left side; Auto-Lock marking |
| Handle chart / decal | US flag; no Elite EXP name on top decal | No US flag; Elite EXP name on top decal |
| Expansion purchase | Use the matching Elite USA kit and stage | Use the matching Elite EXP kit; USA kits do not fit |
For a used pair with unclear markings, follow PowerBlock's model-identification guide before ordering. The current Elite USA also uses a knurled stainless steel grip; an older review or retailer EXP price should not be treated as the specification or quote for this pair.
When neither is the right next purchase
Beyond 90 lb per hand, neither the QuickDraw versions nor Elite USA provide the required ceiling. Price a higher-capacity platform or suitable fixed pairs. If your current dumbbells still cover your training, keep them and spend on the missing movement or room constraint instead. Regularly releasing weights or sharing several loads simultaneously is a different buying problem from maximizing adjustable capacity.
Both require careful operation. REP's lifetime original-owner defect warranty excludes abuse and other listed damage; PowerBlock states a five-year residential limited warranty for Elite USA. Read current terms and handling instructions instead of treating warranty duration as permission to drop equipment.
